What can I say about the Tracing Back Roots Tour this past Wednesday at The Fillmore Silver Spring? It was a dream line up come true, We Came As Romans, The Color Morale, and Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! are three of my favorite bands and they brought Silverstein and now a new favorite of mine, Dangerkids. I got to see my favorite bands play, meet all of them and got to share laughs and stories, what could be better?
I’ve only just heard of Dangerkids because of this tour and I am so glad they were on it, they just ruled! I have listened to Collapse constantly and then hearing it live was too epic. The were all over the stage with an incredible amount of energy that I was not expecting! Really great people too boot, can’t wait to see them again!
The Color Morale took the stage next and of course they were insane! What more would you expect from one of the most good hearted bands and people in the world? Their dedication shows more than threw their lyrics, they pour their hearts out with every performance and you couldn’t want more from a band. Oh wait they do go further, by doing a acoustic set outside after the show and every show they do!
The French boys of C!NCC came on and they were so different than they were on the Pardon My French Tour! With their new album PMF being out since April they have just exploded to a new level, their passion and aggressiveness on stage is something else. Bert has the best screams live by far, it was party metal style, or whatever style they are! It was just flat out fun, go see them, you know you want to party with these crazy French boys!
Silverstein was up next, and I knew about them but I never really listened too much until now. Very insane set I must say, I didn’t know what to expect but I loved it! They have a few more albums than the others but they played a pretty good mix of their stuff! I want to hear ‘Your Sword Vs,. My Dagger’ again, a song that is a must hear live, there just is no other way!
Finally We Came As Romans time was here, and I just couldn’t control the happiness building up inside. They guys mean so much to me, their music has really helped me through parts of my life and seeing them on stage and playing those songs that carried my heart was unforgettable. Obviously they couldn’t play everything but they did a quick mix of some of their best songs into one, I could barely hold back my tears when they played ‘Just Keep Breathing’. They are so happy on stage, I’ve never seen that kind of emotion they brought in a live performance. I want to just see them play everything they have. And I even got to meet Lou briefly and that was too great for words :D.
Just a perfect show, no question. Fantastic music, great people, moments, stories, laughs, cries, hugs, were all shared. No matter where you were love was shown and accepted. I hope this exact line up comes to life again someday :D.
